Red Can was printed at Magnolia Editions in Oakland, CA. The dripping image in the background was drawn on transparent mylar and transferred onto a pre-sensitized copper plate. Molding paste was directly applied on a second copper plate for the background textures. Red Can image was printed from one copper plate and one zinc plate. (These were all photo-sensitized plates.) ‘Hey, Folks—‘ was made by a photo-etching process and printed on rice paper. This image was printed with third plate. The aquatint etchings were etched many times using dutch mordant acid.
